How does an experience over 9 months as an intern dedicated to .NET C# development at the red.academy works?
Let me give you my thoughts on my inside experience.
I started the internship on 6th February 2023, after a selection process consisting on two interviews. Throughout this period intership, I worked mainly remotely (with some visits to the company headquarters in Lisbon), I participated in many projects and gradually integrated into different teams, acquiring theoretical and practical knowledge, and consolidating my previous education obtained at the university.
The experience at red.academy was crucial for my professional development.
First Week
I engaged in remote team building activities that focused on integrating the intern team, where I met my eight colleagues. Additionally, it allowed me to get to know the other employees in the company. This period was crucial for me to feel welcomed and integrated, even remotely. The calm atmosphere and friendliness of my colleagues contributed to a positive and welcoming learning environment.
During the first three months
The internship consisted of two hours of daily training, typically from 10 am to 12 pm. The team leader presented his knowledge through summarized PowerPoint presentations while developing diverse small web apps, followed by practical exercises throughout the day.
During this phase, I improved my knowledge of .NET C# development, SQL Server, and Front-end development using Razor View and libraries like Bootstrap. I also gained knowledge about various architectures and when to apply them, having the challenge of choosing the MVVM architecture for the final web app. These skills were applied in the development of a simple yet creatively challenging e-commerce web platform.
From three to 9 months
After the initial three months, I was integrated into red.it's internal team, continuing to receive training, where I also deepened my knowledge in Angular and task management with Agile Scrum methodology. This allowed me to apply everything that I learned in a real context, developing internal projects for human resources management and projects for external companies.
Alongside the team leader and my 4 internal team colleagues, I developed three .NET projects from start to finish and participated in the maintenance of an Angular project, in which I also received parallel training.
After 9 months
At the nine-month internship, I received a job offer, which I accepted enthusiastically. The experience at red.academy was crucial for my professional development. In addition to receiving a solid technical knowledge, I developed interpersonal skills and gained confidence to face future challenges in the job market.
I want to take this opportunity to thank the red.it team, human resources and the team leader for the opportunity and support. I'm looking forward to applying everything I've learned and continuing to grow as a professional in the software development field. I recommend the red.academy experience to anyone, like me, who wanted a quality training experience within a professional context!
